SmallCakes has opened its first Alexandria location.
The cupcakery and ice cream shop opened this week at 1506 Mt. Vernon Ave. soon.
SmallCakes was started by Jeff Martin, who appeared on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars (seasons one, two and seven) and on the daytime talkshow The View.
The bakery bakes and frosts 18 signature flavors every morning from scratch, using seasonal and fresh ingredients. Flavors include chocolate, cookies ‘n cream, wedding cake, peanut butter cup, red velvet, lemon drop and more. The ice cream (creamery) side has similar flavors, plus blue munster cookie, salted caramel cream, strawberry and others.
According to the company, “Smallcakes believes in its slogan of 'Maybe a Cupcake Will Help?' and has been growing their neighborhood cupcakery across the world. Our mission statement is how we have grown our little cupcake store. ‘To use creative flavors, quality ingredients, and friendly service to provide the finest cupcake experience worthy of returning and recommending.’”
SmallCakes has one other Northern Virginia location in Arlington at 1201 Joyce St. (near Pentagon Row), plus shops in Newport News, Richmond, Williamsburg in Virginia. SmallCakes also operates in 28 other states.
