The Roy Rogers in the Belle View Shopping Center celebrated its long-awaited grand re-opening on June 1, the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce announced, after a soft re-opening last week.
Located at 1506 Belle View Blvd., the restaurant closed in October 2019 following a devastating multi-alarm fire that spread along the roofline of the shopping center. An investigation by the Fairfax County Fire Marshal’s office determined that fire began in a walk-in cooler at Yido Ramen and Sushi, which had opened just days before.
Franconia resident Jason Hunt and his family own and operate a handful of local Roy Rogers Restaurants in this area.
"We're glad to be back and serving the community," Hunt said at Tuesday morning's ribbon cutting ceremony.
Mount Vernon District Supervisor, Dan Storck echoed Hunt's enthusiasm. "Who would have imagined that it would come back so much bigger and better...the beauty of this is that we're now opened up, we're now ready to go. We've got a beautiful facility, we've got a great community that is ready and willing and excited about coming to support this. We're ready for some burgers and chicken, how about you guys?" Storck said to a round of applause.
After the ribbon cutting, Roy Rogers presented a $500 donation check to Good Shepherd Housing, an organization that provides affordable housing opportunities to families and individuals in Northern Virginia.
Roy Rogers is a local chain of American restaurants — the first Roy Rogers opened in Falls Church, Virginia, in 1968. The Belle View Shopping Center Roy Rogers is one of seven in Virginia and one of more than 45 Roy Rogers restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
