More than a dozen restaurants in Alexandria that closed in March have reopened this month or have plans to do so soon.
Ted's Montana Grill in the Eisenhower East neighborhood started offering curbside pick-up this week. The restaurant had closed in March due to coronavirus concerns, for the health and safety of team members and diners.
Alexandrians can order from tedsonlineorder.com, pay online, call the restaurant when you arrive, and Ted's staff will bring your meal directly to your car. Ted's also is offering select bottles of wine and beer to-go.
In addition, Mexican restaurant Urbano 116 opened for carryout orders and delivery last week in Old Town. (You can order at Urbano116.com.) Mixed drinks, beer and wine are available in addition to the normal menu.
People who had to give up their daily Starbucks habit will be able to return to their old ways. The company announced this week that 90 percent of its company-owned stores will be open by the end of May for take-out. For the past several weeks, only Starbucks locations near hospitals and first-responder facilities were open for take-out service, and some offered delivery.
The Starbucks in the West End near the intersection of South Van Dorn and Pickett streets opened last week. Like other locations, it is telling patrons to order through the Starbucks mobile app.
Other highlights: Virtue Feed & Grain will be opening Friday for take-out. Bittersweet Catering is offering meal boxes to go. Dishes of India and The Pita House are now open for carry-out and delivery. For desert, most local ice cream shops have already reopened — and Ben & Jerry's is reopening next week.
Alexandria Pastry Shop reopened May 1 and is offering curbside pickup from a limited menu from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Orders of $25 or more can be delivered free. The shop is taking orders via their Facebook page or by emailing them at: catering@alexandriapastry.com.
Many other restaurants have either reopened for carryout or delivery or have upgraded their options for diners in recent weeks. For a list of Alexandria restaurants and information on what they are offering, go to ALXatHome.com.
