A new owner is taking over the space where the Bread & Chocolate cafe is located at 611 King St., according to papers filed with the City.
Bread & Chocolate has been open in that spot for decades, earning four stars from 128 reviews on Yelp.
There's no word on when the change will take place but the application was received Oct. 12 by Alexandria, and the last day for public comments is Nov. 6.
The new owner plans to open a restaurant called Java Grill and plans to make no changes to the menu; it appears from their website that they are hiring new employees.
The menu will continue to offer coffee, pastries and light fare. Hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. See more about the new restaurant at www.javagrill.com.
The new owner, according to the application is Truc "Curt" Tran of Great Falls.

Bread and Chocolate is a privately owned company which was founded in 1978 by Theodore Manousakis and Chef Ernst Moser, who had a vision of bringing elegant European artisan bread, fine Viennese and French pastries to the Washington DC area.
Old Town Alexandria was buzzing with anticipation in being the first location to house the full production facility for making these fine products along with the first store front café.
