Port City Brewing Co. brought home another set of awards from the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild (VCBG) 2022 Virginia Craft Beer Cup.
This year’s competition hosted a record 106 breweries competing, including 14 new participants. Brewers were able to submit up to four beers to be judged in 33 different categories. A record 396 beers were entered in the competition.
Port City Brewing Company brought home three medals from this year’s event. The Alexandria based brewery was awarded Gold Medals for two of its year-round best selling flagship beers with Optimal Wit winning Best Belgian Wit Category and Port City Porter winning for Best Porters. The brewery also won a Bronze Medal for Best in Show for its Optimal Wit beer.
This year’s event marks 27 medals for the Alexandria brewery since the inception of the competition in 2012. The brewery, which is the longest operating brewery in the DC Metro Region, is one of the most awarded breweries at this competition, medaling every year in the Virginia Craft Beer Cup since the competition started.
“We are thrilled for the recognition of two of our best-selling beers, Optimal Wit, and Porter, being among the best craft beers in Virginia,” said Port City Brewery Founder Bill Butcher. “It is more competitive than ever, and these two Gold Medals are a testament to our team’s dedication to brewing great quality beers day in and day out.”
