It's been three years since the owners first announced they were planning to open a sports bar in Shirlington ...but now? They really mean it.
Dudley's Sport & Ale, with a rooftop bar, aims to open for football season in September, owners said Wednesday in a Facebook post. Renovations are moving along, with a rustic exterior of corrugated steel siding and a sharp-looking steel pergola on the rooftop visible from the street below.
Plans call for:
- a 12,000 square foot sports bar
- a 3,000 square foot rooftop bar
- 40-plus TVs with gaming area
- lounge-style seating
Most fans of the new sports bar, following its progress on Facebook, are especially excited about the rooftop deck feature: Julie wrote: "Rooftop life here we come," and Dion said: "...can't wait for football season on a rooftop deck."
Some joked about the length of time it's taking to open the new sports bar, one posting a meme of the elder Rose from "Titanic" mouthing, "It's been 84 years."
The new sports bar at 2766 Arlington Mill Dr., takes the place of The Bungalow, which closed in June 2015.
