Proposed rooftop dining at 219 Restaurant
219 Restaurant goes before the Alexandria Planning Commission to discuss its application to make changes at the restaurant.
Old Town Alexandria's Two Nineteen Restaurant, named for its location at 219 King St., is known for its Old-World charm and New Orleans-French Creole style menu.
Now, the owners are serving up some proposed architectural changes that include outdoor rooftop dining on its second floor.
The restaurant laid out its plans and renderings in an application to the Alexandria Planning Commission; the plans are on the agenda of the commission's next meeting on Sept. 4.
Plans call for outdoor seasonal dining, seating 32, on the second floor with a retractable awning overhead. If approved, that would expand the total seating at the restaurant to 284.
The owners are also proposing an expansion of its basement Bayou Bar.
The restaurant's menu includes gumbo, shrimp and grits, Jambalaya, crawfish étouffée, beignets and more. Two Nineteen features live music as well as a DJ and dancing.
