Tucked away, just a few steps from the hustle and bustle of King Street, sits Morrison House, Alexandria’s premier boutique hotel. In addition to offering 45 luxurious guest rooms and beautiful spaces for events and weddings, the hotel has reopened its craft cocktail lounge and dining area, The Study.
The Study closed down for the past two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, but reopened on April 6 with a new chef and menu. Executive Chef Tomas Chavarria, who also oversees the restaurant King & Rye, at the Alexandrian Hotel, has taken the helm at The Study.
Chavarria’s new modern American menu features dishes made with regionally sourced, seasonal ingredients which pair perfectly with Lead Bartender Emmanuel Pressley’s cocktails. Mesoamerican cooking techniques inspired by Chavarria’s Costa Rican heritage add a unique twist to dishes like the Korobuta Pork Belly with Cassava Puree, Peas. Each cocktail is inspired by literature with names like “Eve’s Mistake,” “Giving Tree” and “Beautiful Little Fool.”
“We’re thrilled to introduce a fresh concept to Old Town Alexandria’s community that will re-establish The Study as a go-to spot for not only our hotel guests, but locals too,” said Area General Manager, Jeffrey Brower. “A compelling addition to the vibrant local food and beverage scene, The Study offers live entertainment and a bespoke cocktail experience unlike any other in Alexandria.”
The Study is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy live piano music by Bialek’s Music in the bar area every Thursday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information visit https://morrisonhouse.com/the-study/ and follow The Study on Instagram @thestudyalx.
