631 King Street
Lily's Chocolate and Coffee is a step closer to opening on King Street.
There is now a sign at 631 King St. (at the corner of Washington Street), and the shop is hiring baristas.
The sister and brother team behind the venture, Lily and Saif Alobaidi, will open the second location of their popular Lily's Chocolate & Coffee, which they opened in 2021 in Vienna.
Housed in a historic 18th-century building, the space was formerly occupied by Francesca's, a clothing and jewelry boutique that closed a few years ago.
"We're from Iraq and when we are there and when we were growing up there, everybody comes to our house," said Saif, whose background is in civil engineering. His sister Lily, he said, grew up planning many family events and gatherings.
Lily's Chocolate and Coffee offers lockma, a fried dough dessert often coated in sugar. In addition, the shop will offer a wide variety of pastries, chocolates, coffee and other drinks.
