Frankie’s Kitchen and Cocktail Bar plans to open on Wednesday, April 3 in the space formerly home to Faccia Luna.
The new owner, Tara Hopkins, has worked in Alexandria restaurants for more than 20 years. Most recently, she worked at Southside 815, where she started as a server and worked her way up the ranks.
Frankie's, at 823 S. Washington St., is just a few doors down.
She was contacted by the broker for the Faccia Luna owner and asked if she wanted to buy the space. She and her husband decided it was time to open their own restaurant, something she had always dreamed of doing, she said.
Hopkins inherited the Faccia Luna wood fire pizza oven, so this was the starting point for the kitchen concept.
The restaurant will be serving wood fire pizza, pasta and sandwiches. The appetizers will branch out from the typical Italian fare and will feature a mix of cuisine types.
With renovations, they opened up the bar area and will have more of an emphasis on the bar and cocktails.
