Just in time for March Madness, Dudley's Sport and Ale will— some might say "finally!" —open its doors Friday, March 15 at 11 a.m. in Shirlington Village, at 2766 S. Arlington Mill Dr.
It's been a long time coming for the sports bar, which has been highly anticipated by sports fans and others, partly due to a unique 2,900-square foot rooftop bar that's part of the mix.
Stopping by Tuesday night, new employees were learning the "upscale bar bites" menu while dozens of TV screens flickered. No menus were in sight but according to the social media pages, patrons will enjoy pizza, chicken wings and salads. Look for even more employees to be hired for the 12,000-square foot bar and restaurant.
News of its arrival began about three-and-a-half years ago after the closing of the Bungalow Sports Grill in 2015 and every hiccup since then has been reported and commented on, with fans joking online that they feel like the opening is "an early April Fool's joke." But all joking aside, most commenters say they are excited about checking out the new bar and eatery.
True to its long-time-coming opening, the eatery features nothing more than a countdown clock on its under-construction website at dudleyssportandale.com and follow updates on Dudley's Facebook page.
