Cinco de Mayo falls on a Taco Tuesday this year, giving us two reasons to support our local Mexican restaurants.
Dozens of local restaurants -- including at least one new one -- are offering a variety of Mexican treats, mixed drinks and more for Cinco de Mayo at home this year.
Cinco de Mayo is a remembrance of the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla back in 1862.
This year is extra special:
Pina + Taco is opening Tuesday in Shirlington Village just outside Alexandria.
Plus, Chop Shop Taco celebrates its one-year anniversary with a variety of specials. Elizabeth's Counter offers a boozy margarita donut (pre-order required, 21+ only). Riverside Taco Co. opens May 5 for the season along the Waterfront.
In addition, you can order grab-and-go or delivery from Tequila & Taco, Urbano 116, Los Toltecos, Taqueria Picoso and more.
Toast at home with a to-go cocktail or Port City’s new Mexican Dark Lager.
In addition, several boutiques are offering discounts (and Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday, May 10).
