The sign may not be up yet, but Chewish Deli is officially open at its second location at 1640 King St. The space was formerly occupied by Dunkin Donuts and is located between Edible Arrangements and The Perfect Pita. It is only steps away from the King Street Metro station.
Gregg Linzey started baking bagels in his apartment in hopes of recreating bagels like the ones he enjoyed back in his native Northeast. In 2018, he partnered with a local deli before opening his own food truck in March 2020. Thanks to the popularity of his bagels, Linzey was able to open a permanent brick and mortar store at 807 Pendleton St. six months later, which serves over 5,000 bagels a week, according to the Chewish Deli website.
Bagels are available in asiago, plan, salt, poppy, sesame, everything and cinnamon-sugar. Guests can top their bagels with different flavors of schmear (cream cheese) including a vegan cashew schmear, or other toppings. The King Street location is exclusively offering a BLT and Casear wrap during lunch from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.. alongside classic sandwiches like reuben, pastrami and a turkey club. Wash it all down with your choice of coffee, espresso or tea.
The new location is not set up for online ordering yet, but you can drop by the store Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. The Pendleton Street location is open Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
