Ever had a burger that tasted good but the bun was soggy, bland or just unmemorable? That’s not the case at Bun Papa, the popular burger, hot dog, and chicken sandwich spot where the buns are just as delicious as what’s inside them.
Bun Papa has exploded onto the DMV dining scene since launching in February, and has received recognition from Washingtonian Magazine and the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington.
The pop-up restaurant is the creation of the team behind Bread & Water Company, Markos Panas, Noelle Rickey and Doug Abedje along with the culinary expertise of Chef Patrick Tanyag. It opened for take-out earlier this year in Bread & Water’s original location at 1512 Belle View Blvd. and since then has opened a spot inside Capital One Arena in section 105, and now at 3648 King St., which opened this past weekend.
What sets Bun Papa apart are it’s brioche buns that are then filled with a variety of combinations. The sandwiches can be enjoyed with savory waffle fries, lemonade and desserts. In addition to burgers, chicken and hot dogs, there is also an option for vegetarians, a cauliflower sandwich that is packed with flavor.
The newest Bun Papa location operates out of the future BeeLiner Diner which will open in Bradlee Shopping Center early next year. In addition to serving traditional diner options, the Beeliner will also have a virtual food hall called BeeStreet which will feature local culinary concepts including Bun Papa and be available for local online orders and third-party delivery services.
Bun Papa is currently accepting online orders for pick up. Diners should call 703-888-0184 when they arrive to receive their orders.
