You'll be greeted with an "Aloha!" at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii in the Carlyle neighborhood of Alexandria.
Bad Ass Coffee, with a donkey as its mascot, opened this week at 2466 Mandeville Lane. The coffee shop is nestled between the soon-to-open Nando's and a nail salon currently under construction on the ground floor of the Foundry building.
Bad Ass Coffee started in Hawaii and now has 24 stores in the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands and Japan. The Alexandria location is the first in Northern Virginia.
The coffee shop also serves sandwiches (including The Bad Ass One with spam, pineapple, egg, Swiss cheese and BBQ sauce), a variety of drinks, bakery items and smoothies. Mana is also on the menu, which is an iced or cold whipped energy drink.
There's free wifi, a handful of tables and a loyalty program, too.
