After pausing construction on new Amazon Fresh grocery stores, the e-commerce giant is putting plans back into motion.
About 14 months ago, Amazon announced it would "pause expansion of Fresh stores to examine the business and see if it resonates with customers," CNBC reported.
Construction on the Amazon Fresh grocery story in Potomac Yard had been nearly complete when the announcement dropped.
Now, the Amazon Fresh at Potomac Yard will open later this year, it seems. The Washington Business Journal reported that the company has applied for a alcohol license for the store at 3801 Richmond Hwy. in Alexandria. It will take a portion of the shuttered Shopper's Food store, which closed in 2020.
