Held at the Katzen Arts Center at American University The Washington Winter Show presents For the Joy of it: Creating Beautiful Spaces.
Marjorie Merriweather Post, the founder of Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, the home of our loan exhibit, collected as she described "for the joy of it" and is the inspiration for the 2024 program. We are delighted to welcome Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, founder of Woodstock Designs and Spencer-Churchill Designs, as our Friday Lecture and Luncheon speaker.
Our Saturday Design Panel will be headlined by style luminaries Celerie Kemble and Alex Papachristidis. Executive Director of Hillwood, Kate Markert, Dr. Wilfried Zeisler, Chief Curator, and Ellen Charles, granddaughter of Marjorie Merriweather Post will discuss the inspirations for Post design and collections at our Saturday afternoon Lecture.
Acclaimed garden designer Chip Callaway will moderate Sunday’s Lecture with Mimosas and Waffles, Planting the Seeds of Restoration, with Sir Peter Crane, President of Oak Spring Garden Foundation, and Dean Norton, Director of Horticulture at Mount Vernon.
Our Artist in Residence Josh Young has prepared a special exhibit to be viewed at the Katzen Center all weekend. Showcasing his incredible talent and giving a sneak peek of his new book to be released in 2024 published by Rizzoli Publishers.
The programming is filled with inspiration to spark joy in all of our lives!
