The Alexandria PTA 2019-2020 Reflections Art Exhibit
T.C. Williams High School Minnie Howard Campus 3801 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22304
The Alexandria PTA is recognizing 59 students from twelve city schools in six artistic categories in the 2019-2020 Reflections art contest. Each entry showcases its creator’s interpretation of this year’s national Reflections theme, Look Within. The Alexandria PTA Committee will exhibit the work for the public on Friday, February 7, at 7:00 pm at the Minnie Howard Campus auditorium.
Reflections is a truly multidisciplinary program, featuring music composition, dance choreography, and film production as well as literature, photography, and visual arts. Students ranged widely in their interpretations of the theme as well as the categories, with dance numbers and musical pieces including individual and group performances, literature in the form of both prose and poetry, and visual art as sculpture, painting, and pencil sketches.
Each school rated its own students’ submissions and passed a small selection to the city level. Alexandria’s first-place awardees will compete further against other Virginia students at the regional and state levels. Judges from around the Alexandria community evaluated each work on their creativity, technique, and interpretation of the Look Within theme.
