The Alexandria Health Dept. is hosting a free training on March 21 for anyone interested in learning how to respond to an opioid overdose. If you or a loved one are prescribed opioid painkillers, or are taking opioids, you should take this training.
REVIVE! is the Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education (OONE) program started to respond to the public health emergency in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It can teach anyone how to recognize symptoms and respond to an opioid overdose in an emergency by administering Naloxone. Naloxone (Narcan®) is a safe, effective medication that can reverse an opioid overdose.
About Lay Rescuer Training
Lay Rescuer Training is a 1.5 hour training that teaches lay people:
- about opioids
- how opioid overdoses happen
- risk factors for opioid overdoses
- how to respond to an opioid overdose emergency
You will receive a free medical kit and Narcan® upon the completion of training.
