Pippin Toy Co. is hosting an opening celebration!

Events include face painting, crafts, snacks, gift with purchase, balloon artistry, andchances to win prizes (while supplies last).

Amy Rutherford, who also owns Red Barn Mercantile and PennyPost, opened the Pippin Toy Co. in late 2023 at 1310 King St.

“It was a sad day in Alexandria when Why Not? closed,” said owner Amy Rutherford. “Kids and parents alike have long awaited a toy store. While we cannever replace that beloved institution, we have given it our best try. Our team can’t wait to introduce Pippin Toy Co. to the neighborhood – and beyond.”

The name came from a public campaign for suggestions. Pippin is a squirrel, but the word also refers to a seed and has other relevant meanings for children.
