Opera Arias: THE MIGHTY FIVE AND FRIENDS

At this delightful season finale, soprano Zhanna Alkhazova, mezzo-soprano Anastasiia Sidorova, bass Grigory Soloviov and pianist Vera Danchenko-Stern will perform works by the Mighty Five group of composers, led by Mily Balakirev.

Also known as the Mighty Handful, Borodin, Cui, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and their colleagues transformed classical music in Russia, using

colors and rhythms to express the soul of

the people and setting historical narratives

and folk tales in their songs and operas.
