Old Town 'Tax Free' Weekend

Although the state of Virginia won't have a "Tax-Free Weekend" this year, several Old Town businesses will be giving you a tax break. 

The law allowing for the tax-free holiday expired on July 1, 2023, and Virginia legislators failed to renew that provision. Many back-to-school shoppers took advantage of the discount, which applied specifically to back-to-school supplies and emergency provisions as we head into the height of hurricane season. 

From Aug. 4 - 6, multiple businesses around town will cover your sales tax for you. More information about participating businesses will be available in the coming weeks. 

The following boutiques will be offering a 6% discount in lieu of the tax:
