Old Town Oyster Week is back with a variety of oyster-focused specials at restaurants throughout Alexandria. 

Oyster weeks runs from Oct. 14 - 21 and closes with an oyster shucking contest at Vola's Dockside Grill on Saturday, Oct. 21 from noon - 3 p.m. Novice and experienced shuckers are welcome! (Purchase tickets here, which include unlimited oysters.)

In addition, residents are invited to vote for their favorite oyster pairing from the participating restaurants. 

Virginia is konwn as the Oyster Capital of the East Coast.
