A major, multinational corporation is introducing a new product — and it choose a local boutique for the launch!

Nestle, which makes chocolate and dozens of other food and food-related products, will debut its new "period chocolate" called BEBLOOM at Ms. Moxie's Moon Shop in Old Town Alexandria. The food scientist in charge of the new product development will be on hand to answer questions.

Nestle is offering a free tasting of the chocolate at Ms. Moxie's from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. Ms. Moxie's is at 102 N. Fayette St.

Ms. Moxie's Moon Shop is a period-positive, female-oriented boutique. It opened in June and is the creation of a local nurse, Ann Ile. Ms. Moxie's Moon Shop is "an upscale and fun boutique with a focus on education, body-safe feminine hygiene products that are good for you and good for the planet," according to the company's website. The chocolate is designed to ease period symptoms such as bloating and cramps.
