Forest Bathing at Woodlawn
Unplug, de-stress, and relax on the Summer Solstice at the first of Woodlawn and Pope-Leighey House's forest bathing programs!
Forest Bathing, also known as Forest Therapy, is a slow, mindful immersion in Nature. During a two to three-hour period, we move through the Forest or other natural area and connect with the environment. The guide uses “invitations” (voluntary activities) to invite the guests to engage all their senses and “take in” the Forest. The total distance traveled is often less than a mile. Forest Bathing is not a hike, and it is not a plant identification walk. This contemplative practice is deeply grounding and has many health benefits.
Leading the session will be Emily Hampton, an Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs (ANFT) certified guide. She is a graduate of Stanford University and a 23 year veteran of the U.S. Navy. Emily is also a certified yoga teacher and Nidra meditation teacher.
Tickets are $20, and attendance is capped at 10.
