Classic Car Show
to
The Lyceum 201 South Washington Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314
Join us in the parking lot of the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum for a classic car show featuring a variety of Packards and other “orphan” vehicles. This show will bring together cars that are no longer manufactured – hence the term “orphans.” The show is free, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and is co-sponsored by Packards Virginia and the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum.
Attendees will be required to wear face coverings and maintain 6’ of physical distance from people outside their immediate party. Museum staff will monitor the number of people viewing the cars and control access to the museum’s parking lot.
This year’s show will feature a 1933 Packard model 1001 Coupe Roadster. It is one of only 10 known to exist and is rarely exhibited. Wood door cappings, and a dashboard with jewel-like instruments rounded out the design of this beautiful, fast, and rare automobile. The show will also include a fully restored 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible. This American muscle car is fully documented with its original four-speed transmission and big block engine. Again this year, we will display a 1988 Austin Mini built by British Motor Car Corporation. This completely restored two-door economy car came about due to fuel shortages. Another featured car is a 1955 Packard Constellation that will join the show. Attractive hardtop, fine ride, V-8 overhead valve engine and two-toned color combination of yellow and onyx black gives this impressive Packard the nick name of Bumble Bee.
Inside, The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum features a variety of exhibits on the full scope of Alexandria’s rich history and the special exhibition “Witnessing Worship: A Photographic Study of Faith in Alexandria.” The special exhibit features more than 100 photographs by Nina Tisara that document fifty worship groups in Alexandria in 1985.
The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum is located at 201 South Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria. For more information, visit packardsva.org or call 703-424-5871.
