On April 16th, the Organization for Autism Research will be hosting the fifth annual Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash. This event will help spread autism awareness while raising money to fund new research, help award scholarships to students on the spectrum, and provide free resources to families and educators. Runners, families and friends are encouraged to come run and celebrate National Autism Acceptance Month while enjoying the beauty of Alexandria, Virginia in the springtime. Starting and finishing next to George Washington Middle School in Alexandria, Virginia, the Active for Autism 5K offers a fast, flat, out and back course along the Potomac Yard Trail. This family and autism friendly event is a great race for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. There will also be a ½ mile Kids Dash following the 5K open to children 5 – 12 years old. Participants and spectators will all be invited to partake in fun post-race festivities!
The Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash is organized by the Organization for Autism Research, a 501(c)3 non-profit (ID# 54-2062167), that strives to use science to address the social, educational, and treatment concerns of self-advocates, parents, autism professionals, and caregivers.
