52nd Annual Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade Sponsored by Wegmans
The city celebrates its heritage with the iconic Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk. Dozens of Scottish clans dressed in colorful tartans will parade through the streets of Old Town, joined by pipe and drum bands, as well as terriers and hounds, community groups and more.
The walk starts at 11 a.m. Clans and groups will start to walk on South St. Asaph at the corner of Wolfe Street and travel north to Queen Street. The route will turn east on Queen Street, then south on Fairfax Street and west to end on King Street in front of City Hall.
See the map for the parade route below.
Routes will be closed in the area by 9 a.m. for parade set-up and residents are encouraged to take public transportation to the event. Parking will be very limited.
The Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade is produced by Visit Alexandria in partnership with Campagna Center and the City of Alexandria.
The 2023 grand marshals are U.S. Rep. Don Beyer and Megan Beyer, who serves as Director of the Office of Art in Embassies at the U.S. Department of State Megan Beyer. Both live in Alexandria. The master of ceremonies is Ian Houston, a nonprofit leader in the D.C. metro area who is a GlobalScot and works to promote cultural links between Scotland and the United States.
