The DC Bike Ride, presented by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and Events DC, has announced a new date of Saturday, Nov. 21, organizers announced Thursday.
The iconic event, bringing together riders of all ages and abilities, has been rescheduled from its original May 16 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will return to the District for its fifth year this fall.
All registrations will be honored for the rescheduled event on Nov. 21. If riders are unable to attend the rescheduled event, DC Bike Ride is offering a 100 percent deferral to the 2021 DC Bike Ride, which will take place on May 15, 2021, at no charge. Riders must complete their deferral process by April 24, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. ET on the DC Bike Ride website.
“The health and safety of all DC Bike Ride participants is our highest priority,” said Chris Browne, managing director of DC Bike Ride. “This event is a celebration of community and wellness, and we are looking forward to reuniting with our DC Bike Ride family this Fall when it’s safe for everyone to participate.”
In honor of National Bike Month in May, DC Bike Ride is launching a series of virtual activities to help individuals stay active, encourage positivity and contribute to areas of the community that are in need of support. During the month of May, DC Bike Ride will release a new activity weekly through social media, its website and emails to participants. Participants are encouraged to complete the activities and share through social media, tagging @dcbikeride for a chance to win various prizes.
Registration is open for the 2020 DC Bike Ride this fall and available on the DC Bike Ride website. Riders ages 3-7 years-old are free to ride, and children 8-17 are always half price. Adult registration starts at $62, and you can add a Cannondale bike rental to your standard registration for $13.
