Large 'Coming Soon!' signs are up in the windows of a store at the corner of Wythe and North Washington streets — and gamers should be pretty excited.
Your Hobby Place, which specializes in board games, role playing games, card games, miniatures and more, will be opening a store and event center in the area. The projected opening date will be June 1 at 700 N. Washington St.
Offerings in the company's Martinsburg, West Virginia store include Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Force of Will, Game of Thrones and other games, in addition to miniatures games, Magic packs and decks, comic books and more. Your Hobby Place also has a location in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
On Facebook Friday, the company posted the following information about the upcoming opening and what to expect:
"Hey everyone! We're very excited for the opening of the store. We've been getting lots of questions over the last few weeks that I'd like to take a moment to answer
There has been a lot of questions about what product lines we'll be carrying and what games we'll be supporting for play and events. We'll be carrying a wide range of miniature games from historical to Warhammer 40k, along with hobbying supplies to properly build and paint them with, collectible card games, board games, role-playing games, as well as some cool other nerd gear! Along with these we'll be carrying lots of family/kid friendly games.
As far as play we'll match whatever the community is looking to play! We have open play any time that an event is not scheduled and our employees play a wide range of games. If you're ever interested in running or playing a game just shoot us a message and we will help line it up! Right now we have a game of Muskets & Tomahawks lined up for opening day!
There has been a lot of inquiries about parking, understandably. There is a decent amount of free street parking in the evenings and early afternoon, but more importantly there are 3 free parking garages within 1 block! We also have a back door that can be easily pulled up to to unload if you have stuff to carry.
As for when we will be opening we are aiming for June 1st! We will hold a grand opening later, complete with the classic Your Hobby Place event around it.
