Winchester Homes is purchasing 6.14 acres in Alexandria to build the Winchester Eisenhower Avenue Townhomes project on what was Victory Center property, the company announced Thursday.
Winchester Homes reached an agreement with 5001 Eisenhower Residential Owner, LLC, an affiliate of Stonebridge, for the new residential development. The proposed project will consist of 138 townhomes ranging from approximately 1,700 square feet to 2,600 square feet.
Stonebridge acquired the entire 16-acre site, including the long-vacant 606,921-square-foot Victory Center office building in May 2019, shortly after Stonebridge obtained Alexandria City Council's OK to rezone a portion of the property from commercial to residential. Stonebridge has said it remains focused on marketing the 11-story Victory Center to prospective office users.
Meanwhile, plans for the new townhome community are full steam ahead.
“Thanks to Stonebridge and our partners, we are thrilled with the opportunity to bring life-inspiring homes to the City of Alexandria,” said Brad Blank, president of Winchester Homes. “There’s an incredible need for new inventory in Northern Virginia at this time and we’re uniquely positioned to deliver in Alexandria.”
“We are extremely pleased to have Winchester be the developer of our residential component at 5001 Eisenhower,” said Douglas M. Firstenberg, principal of Stonebridge. “Bringing one of the best homebuilders to add a mix of uses to the project is a key element of our plan to transform 5001 Eisenhower into a great asset for the City of Alexandria.”
Winchester Homes has 17 current communities across the Washington metropolitan area, six of which opened within the last year.
