Teacher Appreciation Week isn't until early May, but local businesses are starting to plan surprises for teachers already.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6 to 10, and traditionally it's a time when parents and PTAs shower teachers with special treats and gifts for having (almost) survived another school year.
This year, businesses are teaming up to help show teachers appreciation, too.
The effort is led by local business associations, Councilman John Chapman, former School Board Chair Meagan Alderton, School Board member Ashley Simpson Baird, business owner Michelle Milben and business owners.
Businesses are encouraged to follow the facebook page and join the effort by signing up through this form.
