Alexandria is rolling out a number of new programs this year for Small Business Saturday, encouraging residents to shop local.
The Elf Prize Patrol is expanding from Old Town to include Del Ray. Presented by Visit Alexandria and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Elf Prize Patrol will give random shoppers treats and surprise giveaways from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Alexandria Restaurant Partners is offering 10 percent off your total restaurant bill with a receipt from a local business. Alexandria Restaurant Partners restaurants include Vola's Dockside Grill, Mia's Italian Kitchen, The Majestic, Joe Theismann's Restaurant & Bar and Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap.
Small Business Saturday also brings a number of pop-up shops to Hotel Indigo and the Upper King Street neighborhood. (Learn more about those here!)
The King Street Corridor Initiative and Hooray for Books! present photos with Santa in Old Town Alexandria. Photos will be from noon to 3 p.m. at Hooray for Books!, 1555 King Street. (Advance reservation is required; go to Hooray4Books.com for more information.)
At the Waterfront end of Old Town, a new local bookstore is opening for business on Small Business Saturday. Old Town Books will be opening at 104 S. Union Street. (Read more about Old Town Books here.)
