Saltbox, a flexible co-warehousing and small business logistics company, announced last week that it has expanded to Alexandria. Serving as its sixth co-warehousing location in the country, Saltbox noted that it continues its rapid expansion of flexible warehouses and fulfillment centers, with plans to double its footprint of co-warehousing locations by the end of the year.
Located at 4700 Eisenhower Ave., Saltbox DC Alexandria offers more than 45,000 square feet of space, including 85 flexible warehouse and office suites. The new location includes conference rooms, flexible office space, access to loading docks and a top-of-the-line photo studio for entrepreneurs.
“Expanding our footprint into the Washington, D.C. metro area has been our top priority, given it serves as the region’s central hub for growing e-commerce, tech and consumer companies,” said Saltbox CEO and Co-Founder Tyler Scriven. “Alexandria is an important strategic node for the Saltbox network. We strive to eliminate the pains of logistics and shipping with our offering, and look forward to continuing to help our members grow their businesses.”
Saltbox DC Alexandria is 20 minutes from Washington D.C. and down the street from the Van Dorn Street Subway, offering prime access into the city. It is a 16-minute drive from Reagan National Airport, and is located off Interstate 495.
In 2021, Saltbox expanded its flexible warehouse network to five locations, including a new 45,000 square-foot facility in the Los Angeles area as well as a new Denver location with over 102,000 square feet. Saltbox also opened a 66,000-square foot facility in Dallas and a 59,000-square foot facility in Seattle. Adding to its footprint that includes its first 49,000-square foot facility in Atlanta, the flexible warehouse company is planning to open secondary locations in its Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas markets. This year, Saltbox unveiled its first-ever fulfillment hub in Columbus, Ohio.
Of Saltbox’s more than 300 members across its six locations, more than 70 percent are e-commerce companies that sell physical goods directly to consumers. These small and medium-sized businesses range across a variety of industries including fashion and apparel, health and beauty, home goods and resale as well as tech in the hardware and services sectors. Half of Saltbox member businesses are led by women or people of color.
