Praha Beads and Jewelry opened Nov. 1 in Old Town Alexandria at 215 S. Union St., second floor.
A new bead boutique specializing in hard-to-find and unique beads is open in Old Town.
Praha Beads and Jewelry opened Friday on the second floor of 215 S. Union St.
Praha is a translation of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Owner Tracey Navratil, who is of Czech heritage, sourced many of her beads from Prague on a trip there this summer.
The boutique carries thousands of glass beads, many from the Czech Republic. She also carries vintage beads, African trade beads, fresh water pearls, semi-precious beads and Swarovski crystals.
“I haven’t seen most of these anywhere, even online,” she said Friday from her spacious retail space with large windows, exposed brick and wood floors.
Navratil said she wanted her store to be a reflection of herself and feel ‘homey’ and welcoming, comfortable and organized. She also welcomes creators, who can come in to work and get help with projects during business hours.
Navratil also has stocked everything a person needs to get started with their own beading creations — tools, stringing materials and more.
In addition to thousands of beads, jewelry and supplies, Navratil plans to host classes and small parties, including bachelorette parties, small birthday parties for children 10 and up and other events.
More information about Praha Beads and Jewelry is available at on the boutique’s website at prahabeadsandjewelry.com.
Grand opening events will be planned for early December.
