Greenhill Capital Corp.
Greenhill Capital Corp. is moving forward (slowly) with the first phase of Pickett Place, a development in the neighborhood of South Van Dorn Street, Edsall Road and South Pickett Street.
The Alexandria City Council approved the first phase in its council meeting on Saturday, Dec. 15.
The 15-acre area could include residential development (including affordable housing), retail, office and civic use development – plans have not been finalized.
The area includes the Van Dorn Shopping Center, which currently houses several small shops and the recently-shuttered Giant supermarket, as well as several surrounding businesses north and east of the Modera Tempo retail and residential development.
Residents may have to wait a while before redevelopment starts, however – Greenhill Capital Corp. has no timeline in place. A second phase with an additional 9 acres of development area will go before the City Council sometime in 2019, the Washington Business Journal reported.
More information the redevelopment is available in this Greenhill Capital Corp. document.
