Misha’s Coffee, an Alexandria institution, has moved to its new home at 917 King Street.
It had been at its former location at the intersection of King and S. Patrick Street (Route 1 North) since 1991. The new location is less than a block away, but many customers mourned the loss of the old space.
But customers will see a much larger, more modern and brighter Misha's at its new location.
The former Misha's spot will become Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams.
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams has 35 locations nationwide — the closest is in the District near the intersection of 14th and U Streets NW. Jeni's is also opening a new shop at Bethesda Row in Maryland.
Jeni's Splended Ice Creams uses only whole ingredients (no artificial flavors or colors) and uses dairy from grass-fed cows. The company also has a variety of dairy-free options, a pint club, delivery service and ice cream cookbooks.
Misha’s announced last year that it was also opening a second location at 6 Prince Street. Construction appears to be moving forward at the Prince Street location, with permits issued for demolition earlier this year and 'Coming Soon!' signs up in the windows.
