Payless ShoeSource, the discount shoe store, is closing all 2,100 of its stores nationwide as part of a bankruptcy agreement.
The closures will happen between March and May on a rolling basis, according to the company. Liquidation sales will start as early as Sunday.
Payless ShoeSource has locations in Kingstowne and at Mount Vernon Plaza. Additional locations in the area include Seven Corners, Leesburg Pike Plaza in Falls Church and Springfield Town Center.
The online store will also be closing.
The company was founded Topeka, Kansas in the mid-1950s. The company has 3,600 stores worldwide (international locations are not closing at this time) and more than 18,000 employees.
