The stationary store Papyrus is reportedly closing all stores nationwide this year – and that includes the 721 King St. location in Old Town Alexandria.
Papyrus’s parent company, Tennessee-based Schurman Fine Papers, has plans to close all of its 254 retail locations, according to reports about the company’s bankruptcy court papers.
The stores may close by the end of February, and closing sales are starting now. Schurman Fine Papers also operates American Greetings, Carlton Card and Paper Destiny stores.
The first Papyrus store opened in the 1970s in California.
