A former TopGolf in Kingstowne and adjacent Ruby Tuesday, also closed, could reopen as a new venue called Rudy's, according to a report by Washington Business Journal.
In many ways, Rudy's would be similar to TopGolf and could even use technology owned by TopGolf that tracks balls from your club to the hole. The other half of the facility would be a restaurant, Washington Business Journal reported.
The TopGolf location was the company's first location when it opened in 2005.
The property owner filed plans with the Fairfax County government several years ago to replace Topgolf Alexandria with townhomes, multifamily units and commercial space. Those plans are on hold, but they aren't totally off the table.
After a more modern, larger Topgolf facility opened near National Harbor, the Kingstowne location closed.
Topgolf’s Kingstowne location opened in August 2005 to much higher demand than the company originally anticipated. Topgolf is now operating in 29 states in addition to multiple international locations.
