Tacos, a tattoo artist, spinning classes, a juice bar and more ... all in one place? A group of locally-owned businesses will set up shop under one roof at the new Madison Collective. It will open this summer at 1008 Madison St. in the Parker Grey neighborhood, according to Avanti Holdings.
Avanti's Teddy Kim, an Alexandria native, is bringing his dream to life with the new venture.
The businesses at Madison Collective include Chop Shop Taco, Marlowe Ink, The Waiting Room, Grateful Kitchen Co. and Zweet Sport. The site for the new gathering spot was formerly home to a used car lot and auto "chop shop."
Here's a little about what to expect from each of the new businesses at Madison Collective:
Chop Shop Taco: Chef Ed McIntosh at Tortilladora is teaming up with Avanti Holdings and Kris Garcia to offer up seasonal tacos, tortas and snacks. Look for "off the spit" chopped meats including Al Pastor (pork), chicken, pork belly and brisket. Chop Shop Taco will be open for both lunch and dinner.
Marlowe Ink: Northern Virginia tattoo artist James Marlowe will set up shop at Madison Collective. The popular artist opened his first tattoo shop 15 years ago in Fairfax. Look for other artists to be on the scene as well including Danny Zelsman and Jen White, Hayden Zelsman, Anya Gladun, Phil Watkins and other artists who will swoop in from out of town.
The Waiting Room: Located just below Marlowe Ink this refurbished warehouse space will be a spot where you can meet up with friends and host events. Look for art curated by Kari of Artbot.
Zweet Sport: Two fitness studios in one will feature a 35-bike cycling room and another studio for one-on-one or semi-private workout space. This new venture is brought to the area by the owners of Zweet Sport Total Fitness which operates a hot yoga spot nearby.
Grateful Kitchen Co.: After your workout, head for the juice bar. A walk-up window will serve up juice and espresso. You'll be able to enjoy many plant-based offerings either inside at the counters or grab 'n go.
