Your holiday shopping just got much more local!
Made in ALX, a collective of more than three dozen Alexandria-based makers, creators and artists, is opening a pop-up shop in Old Town that will be open through the holiday season.
In early November, Made in ALX will open at 1 Wales Alley, next to Virtue Feed & Grain and Waterfront Park in Old Town Alexandria. The pop-up shop will remain open through Dec. 29.
The pop-up shop (in the space previously occupied by Bike & Roll, which moved up King Street) will feature items perfect for holiday gifts from more than two dozen of Made in ALX's member partners. Items will include candles, pet items, clothing, accessories, jewelry, household items, art and much more. A full list of participating makers will be available after Oct. 15.
Residents can always order through MadeinALX.com, with curbside pickup, local courier delivery and nationwide shipping available. The website features more than 500 items from a diverse group of Alexandrians.
In addition, Made in ALX plans to host multiple events in the pop-up space this fall with local makers, including offering classes and demonstrations. On Dec. 11, Made in ALX will offer free gift wrapping and collect donations for the food bank at ALIVE!
The goal of Made in ALX is to make it easy for people to find and purchase locally-crafted goods. Made in ALX started in late 2020 and features Alexandria-based makers selling more than 500 items (many exclusive to Made in ALX). The collective's goal is to connect area residents to Alexandria individuals and microbusinesses who are making a wide variety of handcrafted, locally-made and small-batch items.
Made in ALX has hosted several one-day pop-up shops over the past year, including at ALX Community in Old Town and at Lost Boy Cider, in addition to an ongoing presence at the West End Farmers' Market every Sunday through mid-November.
