Have you ever wished you could create a candle that smelled exactly the way you wanted? Now you can.
At Lumiere Candle Studio, which recently opened its doors at 1316 King St., you can learn how to make your own soy wax candle and select from over 100 fragrances to create your own custom scent.
The Alexandria franchise is the fourth studio, joining locations in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Souderton, Pennsylvania.
Lumiere Candle team members will show you how to make your candle from start to finish. Prices vary by the size of the jar and begin at $20. The price includes all the materials you need to create your candle — including the jar, wax, dye, wick, label and fragrance. There is no sitting fee, only the price of the candles you make.
Candle making is a unique activity to share with your friends, partner or family for a birthday party, bachelorette party or other occasion. The Alexandria studio can typically seat up to 20 people, but larger groups can be accommodated. Walk-in are accepted if there is space, but it is best to make a reservation in advance. The studio allows guests to BYOB (bring your own bottle).
The candle making experience typically ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Finished candles can be picked up after they have cooled for at least 2 hours. Candles will be held for up to 60 days.
Lumiere Candle Studio also sells home candle-making supplies. At-home candle makers can browse a selection of retail items available for purchase including wax, wicks, fragrances, oils, dyes, jars and equipment.
The Alexandria studio is open Thursdays from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon-9 p.m. and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. You can make a reservation by visiting the studio's website here.
