Industries for the Blind headquarters building at 3000 Potomac Ave. in Alexandria will include Kaiser Permanente.
Construction is well underway on a new 100,000-square foot building in the Potomac Yard area, the new headquarters for National Industries for the Blind (NIB), at 3000 Potomac Ave.
The new building, which sits near a Giant store and a Target, will also be home to Kaiser Permanente's 40,000-square foot Alexandria Medical Office.
“Our new headquarters will better position NIB to fulfill its mission, and we are delighted to lease space to an organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the community,” NIB President and CEO Kevin Lynch said when they announced their move last year from 1310 Braddock Place in Alexandria.
NIB’s new seven-story headquarters is expected to provide an expanded training facility in a modern and professional setting that incorporates the latest accessibility technologies and universal design principles.
This will be the first Kaiser Permanente medical office building in Alexandria and will offer primary care, imaging, laboratory, pharmacy services, optometry and optical sales. This facility is scheduled to open in spring 2019.
“We are excited to provide another center that supports our mission of promoting the health of the members and communities we serve,” said Kim Horn, president of Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States. “This new medical facility is an important investment in our growth and a milestone along our path as the Mid-Atlantic States’ leading provider of care and coverage and the model for how health should be delivered across the nation.”
