Where can you relieve stress, grab drinks with friends and throw sharp objects at a target? Bad Axe is opening in the Mosaic District just northwest of Alexandria later this summer.
Bad Axe is a 4,600-square foot axe-throwing facility where you can throw axes at a target in a competition similar to darts, drink beer and wine, and relieve stress.
The venue bills itself as the “world’s biggest urban axe throwing club.” Bad Axe has nearly three dozen locations nationwide, including one southeast of the Brookland neighborhood in the District.
Bad Axe offers walk-in throwing, group events, parties and corporate team-building experiences.
“Our axe throwing coaches will teach you how to throw an axe while helping you improve your axe throwing technique and make you into an axe throwing pro in no time,” according to the company’s website. “We offer fun & unique axe throwing games as well as individual and team-based tournaments for an unforgettable experience.
The company started in Ontario in 2014.
The Mosaic District Bad Axe will open at 2985 District Ave., between Nando’s and BGR. Bad Axe requires that you wear closed-toed shoes for safety, and suggests wearing a comfortable shirt you can move in easily. High heels (even closed-toed ones) and fitted shirts are not recommended.
Instructions on how to throw an axe are available online, but coaches are on-site at each Bad Axe location to help, as well.
Gift cards are available.
