Alexandria's new waterfront park area is a hit — more than 12,000 showed up for the Portside in Old Town Festival on Saturday and more free events are planned this summer.
Located at the waterfront at the end of King Street, the Portside in Old Town Summer Festival featured live music featuring an array of creative collaborations and genres, plus award-winning Port City brews, local food, hands-on arts and history activities and fun for the whole family on Alexandria’s waterfront.
A Waterfront Beer Garden by Port City Brewing Company is popping up up the next two weekends June 28-29 and July 5-7:
- Friday, June 28: 5-8 p.m.
- Saturday, June 29: Noon-8 p.m.
- Sunday, June 30: Noon-4 p.m.
Toast to summer at the Waterfront Beer Garden by Port City Brewing Company, part of Portside in Old Town programming at the new Waterfront Park at the foot of King Street. Over two weekends, enjoy award-winning craft beer plus local food and entertainment including live music and DJs. In addition to classics like Optimal Wit, Port City will highlight different beers each weekend.
The first weekend, Meggrolls will be on-site to offer creative eggrolls with a twist. Over the Fourth of July weekend, attendees can enjoy their beer with BBQ from Chadwicks on Friday and Saturday, Rocklands BBQ’s food truck on Saturday and Smoking Kow BBQ’s food truck on Sunday. Cool off with treats from Dolci Gelati both weekends. Attendees can also enjoy lawn games, live music from artists like NACIM and DJs such as DJ G throughout the weekends.
The Portside in Old Town Summer Festival and Waterfront Beer Gardens are produced by Visit Alexandria through the King Street Corridor Initiative, a partnership focusing on beautification, programming and marketing of Alexandria’s historic downtown corridor, spearheaded by the City of Alexandria and Visit Alexandria with additional support from private funders.
