Visit Alexandria
Enjoy a day of maritime history, nautical demonstrations along the Old Town Alexandria waterfront at the Portside in Old Town Fall Festival this Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 to 7 p.m. Local food, beer and wine, music and children's activities are part of the fall festivities for Seaport Day.
Events are in the new Waterfront Park at the foot of King Street. The free festival is produced by Visit Alexandria in collaboration with the Alexandria Seaport Foundation and Office of Historic Alexandria through the King Street Corridor Initiative.
Alexandria has a fall tradition of celebrating Seaport Day with some Portside in Old Town activities benefitting the Alexandria Seaport Foundation's mission to improve the lives of young people through adult mentoring, project-based learning and the craft of wooden boat building.
Activities at this Saturday's Portside in Old Town include learning about shoreline engineering, ship mapping and rope making, knot tying with the tall ship Providence team, make a boat, paint a boat and splash golf.
