One of the two mural sites in Old Town Alexandria is in an alley off North Lee Street.
The project consists of installing two interactive murals in areas of Old Town that receive heavy foot-traffic. The artist will highlight Old Town’s history and its prosperous future in an instagram-friendly way.
The OTBD Is asking for support in creating the murals through an IndieGoGo campaign with a fundraising goal of $25,000.
The money will go towards the execution of the project, artist compensation, materials, permitting and unveiling events.
According to the fundraising page, the purpose of the project is to "help our amazing city attract more visitors, further engage our community at large, and provide free art to beautify the city. These murals will be an interactive art exhibit for everyone to enjoy."
One of the murals may be on the south side of the ALX Community Building on North Lee Street (pictured above). The other possible location has not been disclosed yet.
The IndieGoGo campaign is active through the end of July.
