The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden will celebrate its unique, real-world connections to Downton Abbey this fall in conjunction with the release of Downton Abbey: The Movie.
The Lee-Fendall House on Oronoco Street in Old Town Alexandria is an ancestral home of the current Lord Carnarvon of Highclere Castle, the location where much of Downton Abbey was filmed.
The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden will host a Downton Abbey: The Movie release party on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
Guests will discover the real-world connections between Downton Abbey and the Lee-Fendall House and find out which of their favorite characters are based on members of the Fendall family.
A Downton Abbey trivia contest, a scavenger hunt, photo opportunities, and refreshments will also be available during the program.
Space is limited so the purchase of advance tickets is recommended. Tickets are available through Eventbrite and are $25 for adults and $15 for fans under the age of 15.
Member tickets are $15; members should contact the museum at (703) 548-1789 to make reservations.
Fans unable to attend the release party have an opportunity to deep dive into the surprising similarities between people and places of the world of Downton Abbey and those of the Lee-Fendall House through special “Downton Abbey” themed tours of the museum this fall.
Tours will be offered Sundays at 2 p.m. from Sept. 8 through Oct. 13. Admission is $10, and tickets are available through Eventbrite.
