It is likely that Northern Virginia will enter the first phase of "Forward Virginia," the three-phase reopening plan for businesses, by the end of May.
But that doesn't mean our region is anywhere close to being recovered. The economic effects continue for thousands of Alexandria residents. They still need help.
Volunteer Alexandria is the area's volunteer service, providing opportunities for residents to give back in a variety of ways.
Volunteer Alexandria's Care for Community page has dozens of opportunities to help Alexandria residents and organizations in the coming weeks with food organization and distribution, virtual tutoring, care package creation and much more.
Volunteer Alexandria is also seeking a variety of in-kind donations to help local homeless residents and local nonprofit organizations.
